Establishing a Research Culture at a Private Nursing College
Sharon Vasuthevan holds the following qualifications PHD in Nursing achieved in 2005 from university of Pretoria, Master of Science degree from Texas Woman’s University achieved through a Fullbright Scholarship in 1995, B Cur and B Cur Honours degrees from UNISA. She is a Registered Nurse, Midwife, and Psychiatric nurse and a Professional Executive Coach. She joined the Life Healthcare Group in 2001 as National Training and Development Manager and in 2010 she was appointed as Nursing and Quality Executive to date. Her responsibilities include managing nursing practice, nursing education, infection prevention and Quality outcomes, safety, patient experience and legal compliance. She served on various Committees and Societies and is the past chairperson of the Nursing Education Association (NEA), and past Chairperson of the Hospital Association of South Africa (HASA) Nursing Committee, and a Member of the Advisory Council for Monash University (School of Health Sciences). Life College of Learning Council Chairperson, Life Nursing Education Trust Trustee, International Council for Nurses Education Committee Member and Africa Honour Society Member. She also served on the South African Nursing Council (SANC), for two terms until she resigned in 2016. She held the positons of Vice Chairperson, and Chairperson of Education & Accreditation Committee. She is the author and editor of number of articles and books which are currently used by both Post graduates and Undergraduate Nurses in South Africa.
