Delivering curriculum that incorporates Aboriginal Cultural Safety into the Practical Nurse Program
Mary Anne brings to Sheridan College a passion to educate and train nursing students. She brings real world experience in health care education. Mary Anne has worked as a nurse in all aspects of health care. Her focus for the last 30 years has been the care of women and children. She is a Coordinator for the Practical Nursing Program in the Faculty of Health and Community Studies. Mary Anne introduced Aboriginal Cultural Safety into the curriculum by addressing changes to course outlines and establishing links to the aboriginal community allowing for a shared lived experiences of the health care system. Mary Anne believes health care requires education in local and global issues and hopes to inspire her practical nursing students to incorporate their lived experiences and best practice to optimize health care for patients.
