Family nursing is composed of the philosophy and the way which is interacting with the patients and that affects how nurses collect information and intervenes with the patients and approach they spiritual care with their families. The main characteristics of a healthy family is to communicate well and listen to all members, teaching respect for others is valued by the family, the family members have a sense of trust and play together and humour at present, family opens its boundaries to admit and seek  help with problems. The main types of family are nuclear family, extended family, single parent family, blended family, single adults living alone, cohabiting family and gay and lesbian family. The main approaches to the family nursing with central to the practice of family nursing with mainly four perspectives are family as context, family as client, family as a system and family as a component of society. The main functions like generates affection, provides personal security and acceptance, ensures continuity of companionship, socialization. Theories used in family nursing are family nursing theories, family system theories, family development and life cycle theory and bio ecological system theory. The aims of the family nursing nurses are spacing the birth of children, providing the help and solving the problems of malnutrition in family, reducing the maternal mortality rate and morbidity rate infant mortally rate and providing  a health education to family so that they can lead a healthy and good life. The main roles played by the family nursing are health teacher, coordinator, counsellor, consultant, case finder and epidemiologist, environmental modifier and family advocate. The types of nurses those who contact the family with the home visit, clinic visit, group conference, written communication and industrial or school visit. Home visit is one of the most important aspects of public health service and the best way of performing family centred care is taken. It refers to be meeting the need of the people at their door steps. Health service in the homes which requires the technical skills, knowledge to preventive and therapeutic measures, teaching ability, judgment and have full understanding of human relation. The main purpose to identity is to need an individual, family and community, to refer cases to appropriate agencies, to carry out and used the available community recourses. Clinic visit is easy for all the nurses and many people in a short period of the time. The medical equipment and supplies are available for the assessment and treatment of patients. The main purpose of health problems of a client in the clinical setting, to maintain and promote the health of the people and to refer the complicated cases to higher and more facilitated health centres. Family discussion is often involves the entire family and can be done at home, clinic and school. The group conference is useful in a situation where the family has a chronic problem that is having a negative effect on the entire family. The main purpose is to identity the problems of a family, to develop the sense of unity among the family members and to get all the family members to agree on ways to correct the problems. Industrial visit is made with purpose to assess the safety and measure the spread of infection in the industrial area. The nurse provides a health education, monitor health status, refer appropriately and help in rehabilitation.
